Knaresborough Castle
Castle Yard, Knaresborough HG5 8AS
If you’re looking for an amazing day out in a scenic location, then come along to our event set in the historic grounds of Knaresborough Castle. Taking place from 21st to 23rd August 2026, we will be open and trading in the courtyard of the castle set just above the picturesque River Nidd. The castle has been around for more than 900 years and offers beautiful views over the local area, including the viaduct. The open lawns of the castle are the perfect place to visit on a summer’s day, where you can take in the marvellous viewpoints and the stone ruins around you, bursting with Norman history.
Knaresborough receives thousands of visitors per year, and for good reason. The historic surroundings, combined with natural beauty just a short drive away from Leeds and York means you can stop in for a few hours to browse the selection of stalls, and still have time for other activities in the local area too. We’re ideally located within the castle grounds, and it is guaranteed to make a great day out for family members old and young, discovering everything the stalls have in an open-air environment.
What else is there to do in the local area?
If you’re visiting Knaresborough for our event, then you can combine it with many other local activities you can access by foot. After browsing our stores filled with handcrafted treasures, why not take a riverside walk or hire a rowing boat? The railway viaduct is an iconic structure in the town as it towers high above the river, and you can walk to it from any location in the town as well as stopping in to one of the many cafes or tearooms. For those looking to take in the local cultural points, experience the magic of Mother Shipton’s Cave, located a stone’s throw from our event at the castle.
What’s on offer?
We specialise in authentic, handcrafted items but there are a wide range of stalls available with lots of items that will surely tickle your fancy. It’s a great event if you want to pick up unique Christmas and birthday presents with stalls like Dad’s Cabin selling personalised gift which are perfect to hang in any mancave, as well as humorous mugs. The Twig Pen Man will also be at our event with their unique wood crafts, and if you get peckish as you’re walking round, then get a sugar boost from Potter’s Pantry with all manner of brownies, blondies and sticky flapjacks.
How to get there
Getting to our event is easy, whether you’re coming by car, bus or train. There are a number of car parks closeby if you’re visiting by car and Knaresborough is just off the A1(M). There’s also a train station in the town, ideal if you’re coming from Leeds or York, and there are excellent bus links from local towns and villages too, including Harrogate, Ripon and Wetherby.
