Ripon Market Place
If you’re looking for the perfect end to your summer, why not pay a visit to the historic cathedral city of Ripon and experience everything it has to offer, including our huge marquee filled with a wide variety of interesting craft stalls.
We will be in the central location of Ripon Market Place, a place where weekly trading has taken place for more than 1300 years! The square is encircled by historic buildings with modern businesses including independent retailers, cafes and tearooms, making it the perfect weekend destination to enjoy the last few weekends of sunshine.
The city centre is an excellent place to explore and we’ll be located in the Marketplace from 10am until 5pm from the 29th until the 31st August, which is a Bank Holiday Monday. Come along and enjoy the heritage of the city along with the relaxing atmosphere whether you plan to spend the day in Ripon or pair with any other local activity on the last weekend before schools start again.
What else is there to do in the local area?
In Ripon itself, you can step inside the majesty of one of the oldest cathedrals in England, as well as discovering many of the museums which shine a light on how trade and justice was carried out in the centuries before. If you are planning on making a weekend out of your time in the area, you can enjoy walks around the area including Fountains Abbey or Brimham Rocks and take in the greenery of the Yorkshire Dales.
For a family day out, you can pay a visit to our marquee and enjoy the many handcrafted artisanal products on offer before heading off for an afternoon at the nearby Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park, or a few hours spent at the Ripon Racecourse which is hosting a Bank Holiday Family Day just down the road.
What’s on offer?
We have lots of stalls for you to browse, both inside and outside the main marquee, featuring crafts and one-of-a-kind gifts. From unique woven crafts by Syniada that make the perfect thoughtful birthday present to truly inspiring seashell jeweller from Irridescent Jewellery, we’re sure you’ll find something that catches your eye at our Ripon event. What’s more, there are lots of branded products from independent innovators like Guerilla Chicken with distinct products like Apple & Vanilla Spiced Rum, and artists like Sunnyjolly Designs.
How to get there
Ripon is ideally situated just off the A1, north of Harrogate, so expect an easy car journey wherever you’re coming from. You’ll be able to find ample parking in the city on event day just a short walk away from our marquee which will also give you the excuse to have a poke around other shops too. If you’re coming by bus or train, you can make your way to Ripon via Thirsk and Harrogate, as well as from Leeds and York.
